Spring Cleaning

2/1/2017

1099's were DUE and DONE yesterday. Today was spent digging out from the remains of 2016. Final year end statements and filing away of last years records was the purpose of the day. And dusting of course, because that should be done at least once a year. February isn't quite Spring Cleaning but it's close enough to the train wreck of closing out the calendar year. There is the financial side of closing out the calendar year but then there is also the physical, cleansing way of archiving data files and paper files. The floors were swept and mopped. The windows now sparkle.

Each year is closer to a more ideal organized way of working and this last year was no exception. All the client files are set up with either their own statements binders or PDF statement files. We haven't gone all the way to paperless yet but we're working towards that goal. Today was simply bringing the desk back down to the surface. A clean work environment is healthier, safer and more efficient. None of it counted as billable time but it counts as a credit to your sanity and in a way, saves money and time for everyone. It had to be done.
